Dog Urine Injury
Grass damaged by dog urine is as result of heavy deposits of ammonium and salts in a small area. This will cause a dead spot surrounded by darker green grass that is stimulated by the ammonium, acting as a fertilizer.
Shape: Circular patches
Prevention:
- The best prevention is to find a way to keep the dog from urinating on the grass.
Remedy: If you water heavily within the first eight hours, the grass will simply green up. If the grass actually dies then seeding or sodding is necessary.
