How To Save 80% On Lawn Repair Costs

Lawn repairs can be a costly process. If you have a large area to repair, then the total cost can run into four or five hundred dollars, and there’s no guarantee your repair job will be 100% successful. That means that some areas may need a repeat repair job later in fall, or in spring – with more costs involved. In the meantime, weeds are going to set their seed to lay in wait for spring. Your lawn may not thrive, but the weeds will.

There are a number of factors that need consideration when it comes to lawn repairs. Cost, time, and effectiveness should be high on your list. Carting in amendments and sod is only half the equation. You need to spend considerable time preparing the ground before you can lay that sod. You can buy a range of lawn repair products such as pre-seeded paper or mulches, but these can be very hit and miss, especially if the germinating seed cannot find the soil below.

What does work well is to seed directly over the top of your current lawn. There are a number of benefits to this approach, especially time. There is little preparation required. Your existing lawn acts as a nursery for the germinating seed, protecting it from the elements. Your existing lawn also protects the soil from any passing weed seeds. Over time, the old lawn will compost back into the soil, adding to the nutrients. More importantly, you haven’t had to dig it all up and dispose of it.

Over seeding an existing lawn isn’t the answer on it’s own. If you were to walk out now and over seed your lawn, your germination rate would be very low, simply because those grass seeds couldn’t reach the soil below. This is where the Grass Stitcher excels. Run it over the top of your existing lawn and it will create perfect lawn seed perforations. These perforations go through the lawn, the thatch and into the soil. This means your lawn seed will find soil, it will germinate, and it can take root. If, for any reason some sections don’t germinate correctly, it’s only a five minute job to redo that small patch. The costs? Well under $100 to repair your lawn – small jobs could be repaired in minutes for dollars. Better yet, you don’t have to hire any specialist equipments, and you don’t have to break your back digging and/or carting in supplies. Wow – you save a lot of money, and your back not too mention time.
